  • Undefeated Championship Reigns: Seperating Myths from Legends

i continue to do research on the legends of the past and present to formulate a concise and historical boxing game, that will include legends of the past and present, and how to rank them fairly.

one tidbit i've come across is the number of years a fighter remained undefeated as champion.

this means for example, roy became IBF middleweight champion in 1993, and remained undefeated until 2003. a championship reign of 10 years. so far I have found the championship reigns of:

    Floyd: 15 years
    Bhop: 10 Years
    Roy: 10 Years
    Chavez: 9 years
    Whitaker: 9 years
    Trinidad: 8 years
    Oscar: 5 years
    Mosley: 5 years

    Marquez: 2 years
    Morales: 1 year
    Barrera: 1 year
    Manny: 1 year

Ottke 6 years. Just as great as Hagler. Only thing is that Hagler wasn't undefeated. 34-0 baby.

i didnt include european fighters, but some intersting numbers. i wonder if there has been a european champion to reign as long as 15 years.

in respect to sven ottke, if he was a world champ for 6 years great. more powere to him.

ricardo lopez was 51-1-1 and is an atg eventhough he stayed at one weight class he was champ for 10 years straight without losing that is a remarkable feat.
