Lionell Thompson, who sparred with Froch, said "No one hits like Kovalev".

Hmm...anyone remember the later rounds of Pascal vs (an incredibly lackluster version of) Dawson? It was said at the time that Pascal was perhaps a little fortunate with that headbutt, and I go along with that opinion - Pascal was getting shook towards the end of that fight, and TBH Dawson has never had the kind of KO power that Kovalev possesses. Last stoppage? Epifanio Mendoza back in 2007...

Pascal is tough, but Kovalev is a completely different beast from Froch - who anyway tends to pace himself early, whereas to date Kovalev simply brings the heavy artillery from start to finish - possibly Pascal could last through the early rounds, but unless Kovalev shows signs of a poor engine which hasn't revealed itself to date, I think he eventually does enough to break Pascal down.

        sure he could
Pascal isn't a hard guy to find and he throws wild a lot
        Pascal also has unreliable stamina
he's tough but Kovalev could break him down
Pascal has some power but he can't win a dogfight with Kovalev
he'd get pressured into more exchanges than he'd want to
would pick Kovalev to get rid of him around the 8th-10th rd

Dawson didn't do much but when he landed you could see it was effecting Pascal and he looked mentally ready to fold up when on the ropes, but Dawson just let him off the hook for whatever reason. I remember a sequence in the fight where Dawson lands a long range uppercuts and it freezes Pascal stiff.

Although I would favor Kovalev at this point, Pascal is still a very live underdog. You never know. Pascal could land something clean early and hurt Kovalev. We do not know how Kovalev would react to that.

Kovalev still has some unanswered questions he has to answer. Pascal could get knocked out early, or end up shocking us all.

I was disappointed with Pascal's later rounds performance against Bute.... Lucien was just a hollow shell of his former self, due to the major whipping Froch put on him....

Despite Bute's extreme reluctance to exchange with Pascal, Pascal seemed very weary that last round and Lucien put it on him, Big Time.... To my GREAT SURPRISE !!! The lasting impression I was left with was Pascal was hardly touched almost the whole fight and when Bute finally got a clue and let his hands go, Pascal was forced to weather the storm.....

What's wrong with Pascal ???? Bute has OK power, nothing like what Kovalev will bring to the table.... If Pascal goes into deep water with Kovalev, he might just drown.... But if the fight is in Canada, Kovalev might need to KO Pascal unless he really dominates with multiple knockdowns to get a decision.... ( You know, like what it might take to beat a Texas fighter in Texas. )

To be honest pascal has a very good chance of beating the russian...he need a big size ring...good foot speed and lateral movement...he needs to get inside and hit him wit combinations and get out...head movement will be key...and if pascal can not get hit often and be able to take his shots when he do....he can win but it has to be in canada
