you have no idea how lucky you are to have missed the f lomo-pac tard warsHi,
I just recently signed up to this forum. I have been out of the loop in boxing for a while now. The last time I followed boxing intensively was when Whitaker, Lewis, and Chavez were around. My favorite boxer of all time is Whitaker and I have been starting to watch it recently. I have been impressed with golovkin, provodnikov, lara, rigondeaux, and martinez
I was wondering if members here can suggest to me any other fighters I should follow or young fighters that will probably be stars in their weight classComment

This is probably the worst time for someone to pick up on boxing whether new or just coming back to the sport.
Networks/promoters, basically Schaefer, Espinoza, and Haymon are ruining the sport.
Guys to follow:
Kovalev, GGG, Provodnikov, Thurman
Hypejobs to laugh at when they get exposed:
Wilder, Stevenson, Broner (already happened)Last edited by thuggery; 04-01-2014, 02:37 AM.Comment

I'm sure you've heard of the usual big names so I won't repeat them.Hi,

I recommend you go over old videos of Donaire fights, he was terrific before the Rigondeaux loss.
Also have a look at Frampton, one of the best young contenders on the planet and in terms of heavyweights, check out Fury and Wilder, both have a big future.Comment

Hmmm...Beibut ain't terrible but is the very definition of a paper champion. He's strong but pretty sraight up and predictable IMO - I'm not expecting even a 49 YO Hopkins to struggle overmuch (though Shumenov is a step up from the truly undeserving Murat).
You know how to use Boxrec?...if you don't, you should familiarise yourself with it - whilst it's not a great way of ranking fighters it is an invaluable resources for finding out what kinda competition guys have fought (and of course it only lists 'official' results and tells you nothing about robberies - such as the one that got Shumenov his title back in 2010).
In essence Shumenov won his title 4 years ago by robbery decision against Campillo and has fought no-one of the slightest substance since. That's not to say he's rubbish, but has done nothing to suggest he's worthy of the 'Super- dooper extra mega Champion' belt he's been awarded (amid some suggestions of corruption I might add - the kid's very wealthy quite independant of the sport coming from a 'new money' family with political influence in Kazakhstan, and a qualified Lawyer himself to boot).
If you are interested in the LHW division the names to look at (alongside the ever young Hopkins) are the new big hitters of the division who each broke out last year with 4 KOs against some very solid opposition - Sergei Kovalev 24(22) - 0 -1 and Adonis Stevenson 23(20) - 1- 0.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 04-01-2014, 10:34 AM.Comment
