So? He was still the IBF mandatory and Khan had to fight him or lose the belt. Seems people in here don't understand how mandatories work.

Marcos Maidana fought for the interim title against some bum because his people wanted to parade him as a world champion

And you can search on twitter how many times maidana offer morales the rematch ...and check the score cards you'll see they are very similar with the maidana - khan.
He didn't vacate the title, faced Maidana and beat him. Khan has so many haters, they can't fathom how he didnt get KOed.

This article basically outlines how Khan-Maidana was about to go to purse bid in January of 2010 for a fight in April or May.

You will see in there that Maidana was already the mandatory and that Roach was scared to fight Maidana at the time.

Obviously a deal was struck to back Maidana off as there was no reason for him not to pursue that fight at that moment.

Maidana was the Interim WBA champ before Khan eve won the WBA Title. The fight was supposed to happen immediately.

Khan finally ended up agreeing to fight Maidana after Maidana took 2 more fights, Khan got a couple easy fights, and the WBA point blank told Khan he was going to be stripped if he didn't fight the guy he was supposed to fight when he originally got the title shot.

Dirk is wrong as usual, but then again he's never interested in the facts when they make a British boxer look bad.

The funny thing about it is Khan is ****** enough to believe the opposite and that's how he got his ass kicked twice.

Khan took 1 fight against Paulie Malignaggi as a voluntary defence in May 2010. His next fight was in Decemeber 2010 against Maidana.

Champions are not obligated to fight 2 mandatories back-to-back. Khan already fought Salita who was the original mandatory.

It never went to purse bids because they agreed a deal. Happens all the time.
