HBO did want to pay Stevenson....... For Kovalev. Not Fonfara

Adonis signed with Al Haymon after already having a verbal deal to fight Fonfara-Kovalev fight Afnew and then the two meet up and unify, because of that... Haymon obviously priced Adonis out for effing' Fonfara . At least that's what I think happened

Clear as day duck. Whole thing is comical and anybody defending it sounds so funny IMO lolComment

i actually remember reading that article. i had forgotten about it until michel brought it up in this interview but he is right, she did say they had till march 30th to agree so i dunno what her problem is.

of course she's not going to sue, she's just using it to drum up interest in her boxer. now she can say that the lineal champion jumped to a different network to avoid her fighter when really he jumped to a different network cuz he got a 40% raise.Comment

Why would HBO offer less for Stevenson-Kovalev, than they did for Ward-Rodriguez, when one is obviously going to pick up higher ratings, and have been with lesser opponents....???

If that's true, I can't really blame Adonis, and I'm by no means a fan of is, for jumping ship to Showtime.

Hopkins would still be a big win, and offer more money.

Hopefully somehow, someway, this fight can still be made in the near future.Comment

As for HBO, it appears that Ward was their new Roy Jones, in terms of over paying for his appearances regardless of who he is fighting.

I remember watching old Hopkins interviews from the early 2000's and how Larry Merchant criticized him for fighting a overmatched mandatory. And Hopkins went "I don't see HBO complaining when Roy Jones is fighting his 10th mandatory bum in a row". I'm paraphrasing.

 march 3rd article:

Kathy Duva of Main Events wants a fight between power-punching light heavyweights Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev to be a done deal, but it’s not there quite yet. "As far as we’re concerned, we’ve agreed to all the terms,” said Duva, who promotes Kovalev. “I believe they have. So now it’s up to him [Stevenson] to just follow through and sign the contract.” Duva spoke with BoxingScene.com on Feb. 28.

duva said she'd move on but it seems far from it.Comment

On a side note, what the hell is Andre Ward doing??? God he's wasting prime years here, he's already 30.

He better get on the good foot. Fight Groves if he beats Froch, and/or fight the Chavez/Golovkin winner. Then it's time to move up.Comment

This article doesn't prove what GYM claims. Duva clearly says they've all agreed to terms, which include Stevenson. Waiting for Stevenson's signature does not mean Stevenson did not agree to terms. A signature is not necessarily needed to have a binding agreement, but for the sake of organization and tax related issues, it formal contract with signatures is still needed.march 3rd article:

Because they paid over 3 million for ward-rodriguez, and not that for kovolev-adonis,,,,How exactly did HBO drop the ball if no contract was in place for the fight...funny that Yvon and Al only went to talk to HBO about getting 20% more to fight Fonfara but didn't say jack shhh about fighting Kovalev. Would you pay Adonis 20% more to fight (Who) Fonfara? I doubt it.

They look like idiots, and over the past 2 years, showtime has slowly stolen their lunch money and eating their lunch.....

Shobox series has gone downhill, but other than that, i think Showtime is doing a great job..
I really dont have a problem with adonis/hopkins, it just makes me mad when they spent a whole year building up sergi/adonis and it doesnt happen,, similar to juanma/gamboa a few years agoComment
