American boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. is being tested by both the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) and the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) ahead of his April 12 rematch against Manny Pacquiao.
Bradley, in a conference call on Saturday, revealed that he is undergoing VADA testing, which will be separate from the WADA testing both he and Pacquiao will also undergo.
“Just to clear things up, Manny didn’t care what testing we were doing. He was willing to do VADA or WADA, so there was no argument as far as the testing goes,” said Bradley.
Bradley explained that he wanted to stick with VADA, which had handled his drug testing in two previous fights, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) chose to use WADA’s services.
“I just chose to do the VADA testing, to stick by what I have tried to set out to do and that’s to clean up the sport, and make sure that a lot of these guys are getting tested,” said Bradley.
“The NSAC decided they didn’t want to do VADA representing us, they wanted to do the same that we did in the Marquez fight, WADA, which was very successful in that fight so they wanted to stick with it and not mess around with VADA,” he added.
The unbeaten boxer will thus be tested by both agencies. Bradley will be paying for the VADA testing himself, while promoter Bob Arum is funding the WADA testing, according to ******. [http://******.craveonline.com/news/3...g-by-the-nsac]
“I am doing double testing just to prove to everybody that I am a clean fighter, and am willing to do whatever with hard work and dedication, which is how I got into this position,” Bradley said.
