How could anyone say they weren't impressed? He only got hit 25-30 times, only 3 of which were solid. And he won by KO with a jab to the body that broke the guys ribs. Agnew is in a world of hurt today ... I guarantee you that.

Agnew's best punch was in round 3, a right hook to the head that left a scuff mark on Kovalev's forehead. He had success with the right hook two more times, but they were ineffective. Then he landed a nice left hook to the body during the headbutting incident.
      That's it. Nothing to mention.

He went for the KO that earns him an A from me, he entertains the fans unlike some fighters

Yes, indeed. That's all he wants. To entertain the fans, and be the champion. The money is secondary. We need more fighters like this guy. I love him win, lose or draw. A breath of fresh air.

Agnew did a good job in lulling Kovalev into pure offense, and unloaded when he least expected, landing some pretty good quick, hard flurries.

When you got a guy who is defending incredibly tight, only throws in hard flurries, and those flurries come only 3 times a round.. it's going to put the pure offensive minded fighter off balance when it happens.

I think it's one of his more proving performances to date. How many times have you seen a guy shell up, decide he is ok with merely going the distance, and actually going the distance?

I think it too him waay too long to figure out he had to go to the body and stop head hunting. My only criticism.

Absolutely, and well stated. I tried to get this point across on other boards but couldn't word it the way you did here. I agree 100%. I can see you know your stuff.

The issue with Kovalev's response to this is that he was moving straight back to avoid the blows. JDJ addressed that after rd1 or 2. Kovalev can train up on that for his next fight. Every fight is a learning experince

The most impressive thing to me about kovalev is that he gets full extension on all his shots. we know he has sick power, and amazing hand speed, combine that with great sense of position and the ability to cut the ring, he's the 175 version of GGG

                    GGG/Chavez Winner vs Kovalev

You're the first person I saw that says Kovalev has great hand speed. Anyway, Kovalev vs GGG is a horrible idea. I don't want their paths to cross this early. Hell no. there's plenty of other work to do.
