Overrated in terms of getting BWAA trainer of year last year yes .

But he's one of the greatest trainers of our era.

Bernard Hopkins said he's he best trainer he's worked with.

Also cares about welfare of fighters and will tell them when to stop.

He's forgotten more about boxing than I've ever learnt.

Let's just put it this way. He won trainer of the year for 2013 on the strength of the Cotto vs. RODRIGUEZ and Pacquiao vs. RIOS! Does anything else need to be said?

He teaches a specific style, so clearly with some people it won't work, but it has tremendously helped others. He's clearly a top trainer in the sport.

how is he overrated. who is proclaiming him the greatest trainer that ever lived?

whatever praise he got he obviously deserved. Same goes with Beristain.

Boxing is a niche sport and the fact Roach has been able to tap into the mainstream is a credit to his lifes work.

Freddie is a great offensive trainer. His boxers are always exciting to watch. One of the best of this era. I just hate his logic.

He's the most successful trainer in this era of Boxing.

He might be perceived as overrated because of the media frenzy surrounding his fighters and the amount of attention he commands whenever he speaks. The media also has a tendency to irritate other gyms with exaggerated claims about his talents as a coach and superiority of his gym, but don't let that fool you.

Roach is a throwback trainer and is in many respects following his mentor, the legendary Eddie Futch, in the way he carries himself. He's extremely brash, but that's just a product of his success.

I personally believe he is on the decline in terms of how much he's able to do with his fighters due to his disease, but there is no boxing mind I would rather have when breaking down a fighter's weaknesses to draw up a strategy.
