I LOVE the answer to the next to last question. It's exactly how I feel. Stevenson's business decision may make him money, but it's doing so at the cost of the sport that makes him his money.

The Racket Squad: The 'Money' Trap

Stevenson is simply following the 'Money' and the blueprint.
Mayweather has crafted a career through least risk opposition at weights he deemed appropriate for him.
Bob Arum showed him the ropes and then he attempted to place a noose around his mentors neck.

Stevenson thinks he need not worry about Kovalev as Floyd feels he need not worry about Manny.

      They are both worried.
If they were not, they would do what's right for the sport and the fans that feed them.

Stevenson has done everything possible to prevent a fight with the Russian. He should be ashamed. Maybe if kovalev was a woman, Stevenson would be more comfortable fighting him.

Cut your own throat and tell me it's business. How is he going to make more money than HBO? Show Time is going to pay him big bucks to fight ham and eggers? Is that what he's saying?

Bottom line: Stevenson is scared. And, while ducking Kovalev may preserve his record, Stevenson is kidding himself if he thinks this decision will not haunt him as long as this business isn't addressed.

If Stevenson fights Kovalev, Kovalev will have to earn the recognition as the better fighter and bigger draw. If Stevenson ducks him, Kovalev will win that recognition without even having to fight.
