Comments Thread For: Agnew on Kovalev: I Don't See Myself as The Underdog

It will be business as usual for Cedric Agnew (26-0, 13 KOs) when he challenges Sergey Kovalev (23-0, 21 KOs) for the WBO light heavyweight title in Atlantic City this Saturday.

“I don’t see myself as an underdog," Agnew told The Houston Chronicle. "He’s undefeated but so am I. I’m coming to the fight like I do each and every fight - looking to beat the man.

“I don’t feel no pressure and I’m taking it one day at a time and concentrating on this fight as just another fight.”

          Why the hate for Agnew?

He has the guts to step up and fight Kovalev and he's confident like a fighter should be.

What should he be saying " I'm signing with Al Haymon and running to another network?"

I don't think there is any, is there? Would be interesting to see someone take Kovalev rounds. While good, I don't think he's a great boxer, imo he lost the first round v Sillakh but his power is devastating. He is exceptional at setting up his shots.

I liked what I saw of Agnew, he looks really sound and should provide a good enough challenge. My concern is that when he gets hit with the first flush punch, all of his strategy will go out the back window for the sake of survival.

Kovalev is just so big and strong that he will eventually force you to fight out of your comfort zone and then it's a wrap. It MAY...MAY, MAY, MAY....be worth it to put some small money on Agnew in case he does have a strategy to nullify Kovalev's power. I'm sure the odds are great on this one but to me, Agnew will end up saying he tried his best but Kovalev was just too strong after the fight.
