Comments Thread For: Roach Says Plan in Place For Sergio Martinez's Speed

Legendary Trainer Freddie Roach confirms that Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) can count on the invaluable help and experience of Manny Pacquiao in the build up to his fight against Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs).

“He will be training two weeks with Pacquiao. They're good friends so there won’t be problems with anything. We will train one week in Los Angeles and the last part with Manny in Vegas, "Roach said.

It will be interesting that's for sure.. I can't wait for this fight! Still think Cotto gets worked tho if Martinez is 100 percent..

The only advantage of Cotto is youth, and the prior injuries of Sergio.

I think Cotto is primarily doing it for the money...thinking he can always go back to Junior middle if he loses.

Improving cotto's timing, and attacking the body should do it..anyone who know boxing knows a good jab and timing beats speed!if he implements those keys to victory in his training it should cause a very close fight, maybe even cause martinez to injure himself...2 more months and we will all see wuts gonna happen!

I think this whole fight boils down to what kind of Sergio shows up. I'm going to keep my mouth shut on this fight until it happens.

Cotto has a good jab and good timing which are great things to have against Martinez.

But Roach is an attacking trainer and if Cotto goes looking for Sergio too much, he's going to get picked off badly.
