Pacquiao became a real rival after the Oscar fight. Floyd had assumed that he was on the throne as Oscar had been for much of the previous decade. He didn't realise how quickly people would forget about him and turn to someone else. He wanted to be the one who called all the shots, and when pressure mounted for him to fight Pacquiao he was genuinely furious about it.
