Andre Ward should have pressed harder to fight Hopkins when he had the chance, now Stevenson will get a shot of taking that re-lit torch Hopkins still kinda has over these divisions. People have beaten Hopkins, but nobody has ran with the torch after doing so.

If he beats Shumenov, then the old man is on another lil run again, and a win for Adnois would mean a lot. More than a win over Kovalev would. He could be the first guy to stop Bhop.. and that instantly makes up for all the lost time in his career as a 36yr old. That's what it seems like Stevenson is looking to do, trying to make up for lost time.

Also, there is also something to be said about the local politics of this decision, as it relates to other Canadian-based fighters like Pascal. Even if he can't KO him, he would have done something that one of his local peers couldn't.

I've seen that the aren't interested in fighting right now, but whenever they do a win would put Adonis in the drivers seat for the $$ in that fight.

It's a risk..because I think Hopkins beats him.. but I also thought he would lose to Sergei. So if given that choice, I'm picking to fight the 50yr old
