If they have yet to negotiate a multi fight deal with Showtime and this is just the Fonfara fight, then it's a good move by Stevenson and his team to try and get more money.
It's shit business etiquette since they already had a deal in place with Main Events, but in terms of money it's a good move to get themselves in a bidding war.
If there's no multi-fight deal in place, then the Kovalev fight isn't dead. Passing on the Fonfara fight saves them a little more money for later on other shows. We might see that Stevens/N'Dam fight and Kirkland/Nelson fighting in May (I'm guessing they give the Stevens fight another look).
He put himself in a position to set up another bidding war between Showtime and HBO to unify with the one champion they both have.
Heard that Showtime is trying to lure Kovalev over, but Espinosa seemed to have really pissed Duva off yesterday and I think she likes HBO better to showcase her fighters.
