After he gets his a.ss embarrassed by a 50-year old man when he fights Hopkins, I think he will suddenly have a strong desire to fight Kovalev, but HBO won't want the fight at that point.
Stevenson took a path of future money with less danger as well. Kovalev would of been immediate danger and Ward in the future if he decides to move up. In GB he has Hopkins and then he wont have much to worry for awhile. I hope Hopkins can take him down.

These are the folks who rejected Hopkins-Kovalev in favor of Hopkins-Murat because Murat (the guy with no fights in the USA) was more "well known" then Kovalev

You do know Kovalev was the one who dropped out of the Hopkins fight...right? both sides agreed and then Kovalev decided to opt for a Cleverly fight instead, not because he was scared of Hopkins, he was just advised to. Just had to throw that out there...

When you guys say "so in so" is SCARED OF "so in so" as a former athlete I just laugh at how much you guys are soooooo ****** and immature minded you are. In reality athletes are rarely "scared" of anybody in terms of sports win or lose they are getting paid and they arent going to die. I believe those that dont compete dont understand that a loss doesnt hurt as much as they think it does or hope it does.

You do realize that Showtime and Golden Boy publically rejected the fight, right?

Showtime/GBP did not agree, Hopkins himself said they rejected the fight. The fight would of had to go purse bid to happen

              Sorry.

He was always in it for the money, everyone who boxes is. And what more lucrative offer are you talking about? Kovlev is not more lucrative than a fight with Hop. The Fonfara fight was happening regardless, one network just decided to pay more for it.

I like watching both Kovo and Adonis--

Adonis has called out both B-Hop and Froch (who would be insane to get in the ring with him, IMHO). There is money in Quebec / Montreal for a B-Hop fight. Bute and Pascal are still floating around the Quebec / Montreal scene as well, and they bring money to the table. Adonis is 36, and a Kovalev fight is potentially big money, but also potentially career ending. Adonis would be well advised to round up as many of B-Hop, Froch, Bute, and Pascal before he gets in the ring with Kovalev. HBO wants him and Kovo before that...

I really think it's as simple as that. You can call him chicken, but there is a market for the above fights as well, and he has a short earning window.

                    Actually

Murat was orginally the mandatory to Hopkins title, Murat then had visa issues and the fight had to be called off which THEN led to Kovalev becoming the mandatory, Murat was able to resolve his visa issues and then became the mandatory once again.

Showtime did not want to buy the fight, the fault was not on GBP. However Duva had the chance to pursue the Hopkins fight but THEY feared Hopkins would just go and fight Cleverly instead and Kovalev would be left out to dry if he didnt quickly sign for the fight.

                    Yeah, sorry.

showtime is literally run by someone from gbp. maybe now you can see the conflict of interest. why would gbp want to match their fighters tough when they don't have to? they chose murat. even helped him get his visa.
