Comments Thread For: Schaefer, Haymon To Meet on Robert Guerrero's Future

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has informed BoxingScene.com that he will soon sit down with adviser Al Haymon to discuss the future of multi-division champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (31-2-1, 18KOs).

Guerrero has been inactive since last May's twelve round decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Earlier this year, Guerrero's lawyer initiated the process to break his promotional contract with Golden Boy through an arbitration with the California State Athletic Commission. Guerrero, through his attorney, claimed the contract he signed prior to last May's fight with Mayweather was illegal and violated the Muhammad Ali Act.

Does it really take two managers, an advisor, and a promoter to manage a fighter of his caliber? Not to mention his obnoxious dad weighing in.

We must remember that boxers aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer. They have so many people in their ears that they end up like Guerrero. Two managers, advisers sometimes two or even 3 promoters

This leads to a lot of them being inactive because of the dispute within their own team. Look at Gamboa.

Guerrero has one lackluster fight with Mayweather and all of a sudden he thinks he's this big shot.. No one forced you to sign the contract buddy, not really sure what he's looking to do anyway other than go get his azz whooped by Pacquiao. It's not like he has some huge following. He really hasn't done much, i really thinks he content with the 2-3 million he got for the Floyd fight since he's turned down multiple fights since..

Let's not forget Manny Pacquiao. Remember, he signed with both TR and GBP, which is really the beginning of the cold war in boxing. I hope Guerrero gets back in the ring because a lot of people are saying he's not a good fighter because he got handled by Mayweather, but just like Maidana, he EARNED his shot by beating Aydin and Berto. Some say "so what" but beating those 2 are more than Provodnikov and Rios did to earn shots at he champ.

He'll be ready to be the people's champ again as soon as that Mayweather money is gone.

My question is why didn't Guerrero's two managers sit down with Haymon to discuss Guerrero's future? Why did it take him signing with Haymon to get a meeting with Schafer? If that is what it took to get his career going again, why does he need those two useless managers?

I don't know how these promoters make money in boxing. Aside from Floyd and Manny PPV and hbo/showtime paying.
