The World Boxing Association has sent official notification to super bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno and his team to begin negotiations for the mandatory defense with Juan Carlos Payano, as established by regulation. Under the rules, the negotiation period will consist of 30 days, starting this March 25 and will run until April 24.
If no agreement is reached, or nobody is willing to negotiate during this time, an auction will be called. Moreno received the authorization from the World Championships Committee for an optional fight with the condition that the winner of that fight would face the highest ranked available challenger.
