HBO is getting out of the game. Seems like it at least. How many cards have they had? How many do they have scheduled?Comment

By all accounts, HBO had 2-fight deal agreed to w/ Stevenson/Yvon Michel. HBO***39;s screw up was not getting it signed in Jan when they agreed.

By letting the deal sit for close to 2 months, it gave haymon time to sign Stevenson and then go to Showtime for more $.

So it***39;s good for Stevenson, Haymon, Yvon and Showtime but not for fight fans, Kovalev or HBO. #boxing

How do you let a deal like that sit unsigned when there are people in #boxing whose mission it is to screw things up? For shame, HBO.

Seriously, fuck Adonis, Haymon and HBO.Comment

Good for HBO if this article is right. This is just Haymon extortion. Asking for a bigger than previously agreed upon purse without committing to the Kovalev fight.
Where HBO went wrong is that Stevenson has been asking for the Hopkins fight for a year now and Golden Boy reportedly even offered Hopkins to HBO for the fight. And HBO turned them down.Comment

This is why just about all Haymon fighters fight about 2 times per yearHBO declining to overpay for haymon fighters who don't deserve it, and instead Showtime just took HBO's place.
But now that haymon has something like 50 fighters, Showtime doesmt have the budget to pay all of these guys haymons crazy demands.
I'm glad HBO is sticking to there guns. I never thought I'd see that day.Comment
