Is Floyd hurting boxing by being the face of the sport?

This is a serious question. Does Floyd being the face of the sport hurt boxing?

Floyd is flamboyant and has entertaining 24/7 which is great because you have to sell yourself. Many people love Floyd and many hate him but his fights not being exciting hurts the sport. A lot of people tune in to watch him lose but many times people are left disappointed not just because he wins but how he wins. Throwing 1 or 2 punches at a time and not engaging. Floyd is a great boxer but while he is number one I think sport will struggle. If Floyd was hated and knocking guys out the sport would be doing way better.

Boxing is selling more PPVs a year than it ever has. I'd say it's much more popular than 10 years ago so no he's not hurting it.

You are correct. Its arguable. My point Floyd being number hurts the sport because of his non engaging style. If Pacquiao was flamboyant and big taker with his style Pacquiao's PPV numbers would double.

I don't know, it needs to be put in perspective, good or bad in relation to what? I think it would be better if a guy like Tyson was the face of the sport, an agressive guy with one punch KO power so compared to that Floyd is not as good for selling the sport.

Still to be able to become as big as Floyd has without being an exciting fighter of himself is a great achivement. He dosen't have the Ali charisma or Tysons demeanor or knockout power but he still manages to sell huge events. That is a good thing.

Fighters are getting bigger paydays, there are 2 major networks covering boxing, and the cards have gotten better. How is that bad?

Every Fight party we have for Floyd sucks compared to all the others. By the 5th rd ppl are losing interest and just start talking, drinking or eating more.

So him being better at "boxing" than brawling hurts boxing?

                  doubt that

all pacquiao has to do is stack his cards with boxers with already big fanbases and even now brings in as much or more than floyd would do with common opposition

It's not arguable on who the face of boxing is; Floyd numbers damn near doubles anybody else so I don't think the sport is struggling.
