Is Floyd hurting boxing by being the face of the sport?

Its a bad thing that you have to go to the ppv route just to see the best players in a sport.
Imagine if you had to pay ppv just to see lebron, tiger woods, usain bolt, rafa nadal, messi, ronaldo, peyton etc..
i wonder of those athlete's fanbase would brag about having make so many people pay 50-70 bucks just to see them play.
"YEAAAA TAKE THAT FEDERER F@GS, RAFA SOLD 2 MILLION MORE PPVS THAN ROGER!!!! RAFA IS THE CASH COW OF TENNIS!!!!"
SMDH.
Talk about having your priorities in the right place.
The difference between the other athletes and sports you named and boxing is the structures in which they operate. Do promoters, managers or even tv companies dictate who competes against whom in tennis? Boxers were dumping championship belts is dustbins (at the advice of promoters and when belts actually meant something), rather than the fights fans wanted, a while back. The problems with boxing go deeper than any one fighter, my friend.

The difference is those sports have more games and local franchises and cable TV deals so you see them more.
yea having your fans pay $50-70 just to see your best players is a bad thing.
at not being a valid comparison. I mean is boxing still a sport or not?
if boxing is still a sport then i stand by posts that ppvs are bad for boxing and that having your fans have to pay $50-70 just to see your best athletes is bad in the long run.
Its a short sighted money grab rationalized as a way to continue business in boxing.
But go right ahead floyd stans, revel in ppv #s.
Only in boxing can fans of certain fighters be so happy charging fans 50-70 bucks to watch their best players.
I mean i shouldnt be surprised, these are the same type of people who would literally kill for floyd.
sad situation.

If you think paying for access for the best fights is bad-we agree. If you think it damages the long term potential for the sport-thihistory shows it hasn't.
What hurt boxing is the mainstream networks don't show it anymore. All the sports you mentioned-the networks show.
If you were really being serious about this argument you'd have pointed out that pay cable was the only place boxing could go once the mainstream networks stopped showing it. This happened long before floyd.
Then again all you really wanted to do was post floyd f@gs.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 03-25-2014, 02:46 PM.

way too many imo. canelo fights shouldnt be ppv as long as he's not a champion or not fighting another champion. even the jccjr/ggg fight shouldnt be a ppv imo.

He helps it by being a brand name that crosses over to other forms of entertainment.
He hurts it by lowering the standard for what's considered compelling matchups.
