  • Deontay Wilder is. . .

the biggest hype job in Boxing since Jeff Lacy. Agreed?

Relative to the field, barring Wlad, he's a legit nightmare for the HW division.

And since Wlad's the only HW boxer that even matters, yes, he's technically a "hype job". He'd get his head jabbed off for 12 rounds.

      Honestly? No.

I don't really see people hyping up Wilder online like they did Lacy. The only people hyping Wilder seem to be the networks themselves. Boxing fans seem to be in unanimous agreement that he's still got a lot of work to do.

I don't think he's hyped either. He generates a lot of speculation and doubt. I guess if you want to call that hye you can. His physical talents speak for themselves. He's more athletic, bigger, and has more power then most HW's. Technically he's kind of a mess. He needs rounds, and he's just not getting them.

A talented HW could definitely make him look silly if they can get arond the physical advantages.

he's 2 punches away from being the universal heavyweight champ of the world. 1 punch against arreola-stirvene winner and 1 against wlad. that's not much work to do at all.

            Is

Ready for a title shot given the lack of depth in this division he is title ready at this point to see what he is made of. I can honestly see him KO Wlad, because Deontay is Bronze medalist and has the amateur pedigree to box although he has not had enough rounds in the pros to do so.

            BUT

Stiverne beats his azz. Hes a true pro.

His signature win was a fixed fight dive so the jury is still out. I have a feeling that we may see a few more dubious fights involving Wilder in the future.

Even his biggest fans will admit that he is very raw. I don't see him being overhyped, although his power does have people intrigued.

He's overhyped, but not the biggest hype job in boxing. Chavez Jr., Danny Garcia, and even, one of my own favorite current fighters sadly, GGG, would all like a word with him on that one.

Wilder will go as far as Tyson Fury lets him.

He has no hope of beating Wlad right now, so don't even kid yourself.

Like somebody else said - Dude needs more rounds to improve his skills through practice and repetition. But he's not going to get them if he keeps fighting tomato cans and guys who take dives.
