Although Freddie Roach admitted that the end may be near for Manny Pacquiao, he predicted that his prized pupil will retire with a world title.
Pacquiao is set for an April 12 rematch against Timothy Bradley in what could be one of his remaining three fights.
Other bouts being eyed for the 35-year-old Filipino are a possible rematch against Juan Manuel Marquez and the supposed superfight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“Manny is really motivated for this fight,” said Roach in a report by the Press Telegram.
“We decided no matter how many fights we have remaining, we are determined to run the table and win every one.”
The fighting congressman has been fighting for almost two decades now and is already at the twilight of his career.
Pacquiao is seen by many pundits as a future boxing hall of famer, being the only boxer to win eight world titles in as many weight classes.
But the boxing pride of the Philippines has recently suffered setbacks starting with his controversial decision loss to Bradley in 2012, wherein he was stripped of his WBO welterweight title. This was followed by a shocking knockout defeat to his fiercest rival, Mexico’s Marquez.
Roach said he finds it appropriate for Pacquiao to start his campaign for redemption by reclaiming the title that he lost to Bradley.
“When it is over, it is going to be as world champion. And that can only happen with a total and absolute victory over Bradley,” Roach said.
