One thing I don't like in boxing/sports forecasting-

    "Anything is possible."

    No ****. Anything's possible....but is it likely ? This is about analysis.....no time for that wishy-washy ****.

Rahman was just stylistically very hard for Tua, Ike has been the only guy to ever stand and trade with Tua like that. you can't say Rahman took the shots that Ike did, that's bull****.

        With all do respect....

You need to watch that fight again. The second one.

Rahman spent the majority of the fight in the corner absorbing punches, ready to go. Just like he was against Holyfield.

He tries to act like ali..but he does a good job of looking like he's not getting his ass kicked.

Ike was technically sound, but he was a plodder. He wasn't all that fast, but he had a solid game and a good chin. He was a natural athlete and was always in shape which combined with his plodding style means he would probably be relatively fresh in the late rounds. He looked best against guys his height or shorter, that allowed themselves to remain in front of him at all times, much like Peter. I've seen a couple of Ike's other fights in which he was soundly outboxed by subpar fighters with no power and little conditioning until they gassed. This leads me to believe that a well conditioned fighter that had good legs and used the ring could outwork him for a decision or beat him the **** up over 12 rounds if they had any power. I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall a whole bunch of those shots from Tua being hard, slapping hooks, and not landing on the chin. He still showed he could take a shot in that fight, but I don't even remember him being swollen or marked at all. I think that he could possibly sneak a shot in there and KO Wlad, but I think that would be the exception and not the rule. IMO It's a tossup and if Ike didn't catch him early, it would depend on how much Wlad had left in the tank, and whether or not Ike was dicouraged from eating all those jabs. I would not however, assume that Ike would win easily.

From what I've seen of Ike (four fights), these are the conclusions I have made about him.

He was a very solid fighter all around. Good chin, patience with his gameplan, ability to adapt to different styles of fighter, power in both hands, effective jab for a relatively shorter guy, good stamina, ability to throw FLUID combinations behind the jab, and a strong will.

Comparing him to Sam Peter is not accurate. Other than the obvious differences in handspeed and natural boxing ability, Ike showed the ability to change his attack once he figured his man out. Peter fought Wlad 1 punch at a time after he tired and used little head movement to get in on Wlad.

I can see a Ibeabuchi/Wlad matchup ending much like the Byrd/Ibeabuchi fight. Ike takes some harder shots from range, but breaks Wlad down and catches him with big shots that buckle his knees. Ike was a pretty good finisher as well, I don't think Wlad would be able to recover. Ibeabuchi TKO6 Klitschko.

I agree that Ike has become a bit overhyped because his career was cut short and he looked impressive against Byrd/Tua. However, I think most rational people can judge Ike fairly on what they saw of him in the ring against two DRASTICALLY different styles.

From my memory of the skills/tools/intangibles he possessed in the ring, I think I can cleanly come to the conclusion that he'd beat Wladimir. Everyone knows I hate Wlad, but this situation has little to do with that.
