Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez: Miguel Cotto Fight Will Be a Slaughter

WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is coming for blood on June 7th, when he defends his title against former three division champ Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Cotto's trainer has been doing a lot of talking, calling Martinez a "soccer player" and saying the Argentine star is "not a great fighter."

I'm pretty sure Martinez said this stuff when he was in Buenos Aires. These recent articles are translations of stuff he said a few days ago.

If Martinez unloads with both barrels and simply guns Cotto out of there, yes it will. Doubt that though. He'll allow Cotto opportunities for a time. No slaughter.

All those fighters you named are almost certainly better at middleweight than Cotto. Unlike Cotto, they are actual middleweights. They probably all hit harder and have better punch resistance than Cotto. Cotto lacks the height, reach, and power of those fighters.

The fight is two and a half months away and it seems like everyday there is a new Martínez quote saying he will kill Cotto, destroy, maul, and so on.

Some fans think this stuff sells fights but I think it's boring already. Sergio should just train, make sure he is ready for the fight, and forget the unnecessary talking. The more he talks, the more pressure he is putting on himself and, considering his recent setbacks, it could make things worse in the end.

That's good he's thinking that he'll slaughter Cotto, can't wait to see what happens when Cotto punches him straight in the mouth, or liver. He's taking his "I'm not a star", frustration out on Cotto. Keep sleeping on Cotto.

Am I the only one that busted out laughing when they read the part about him leaving Cotto in the fourth row amongst the spectators???? Sergio is hilarious. That **** was funny, I can't front.

If serg that fought Chavez shows up, he stops cotto in the mid rounds with a sudden shot cotto didn't see coming..

If Serg that fought Murray shows up, cotto walks him down with the jab n tight guard and breaks down serg over the long haul of the fight
