Comments Thread For: Demetrius Andrade-Brian Rose Set For June 14 In U.S.

Brian Rose will challenge Demetrius Andrade for the WBO Light Middleweight title on June 14 in America, live on Sky Sports.

The Blackpool star earned his shot with a gutsy win over Javier Maciel in Sheffield in October, and the 29 year old is set to appear on the undercard of Ruslan Provodnikov’s latest WBO Light Welterweight defence.

Rose’s shot represents a remarkable rise to the top after claiming the Lonsdale belt outright in 2012 before moving onto the World scene with a final round stoppage of Joachim Alcine in April 2013 to claim the WBO Inter-Continental title and move into range for his dream shot, on a night that he plans to shock the world.

“I'm delighted that Eddie Hearn has got me this shot,” said Rose. “It’s a dream come true for me and something that I have wanted since I starting boxing at the age of 9. [Click Here To Read More]

Good luck to Brian Rose. Easy enough fight for Andrade though.

I wish Brian the best for his shot here, I used to go and use Bobby Rimmers gym as it was the best gym near my house by miles...It was cool to talk to Rose every now and then, he would always be cool with me.

Jon Kays was around there too among others such as Keiran Farrel before his incident and Tony Jeffries before he moved on also. Was pretty sweet to be around those guys especially as Kays prepared for his commonwealth fight with Liam Walsh, although he lost, it was a cool atmosphere at the time during his training camp in that gym.

It was a gym full of pro's but Bobby used to let me in and use the equipment, even though I was just some kid who enjoyed being there Brian was always a class act with me so I wish him nothing but the best. I even got to 'spar' a quick light round with him one time, although it would have been nothing as far as he was concerned it is a story I like to tell that I had shared the ring a British champ!

Out of the name top 154 pounders team Andrade could pick, they pick an unknown who should not be ranked so high. Great, another gravy train set of title defences to protect the fighter. Whats new.

I think Rose will shock a lot of people and put in a good performance... which is kinda indicative of the fight if he's going to cause a shock by not getting blown out in 2

He was stopped by Max Maxwell of all people, so there is definitely some vulnerability there. I think he remains somewhat competitive until the 7th/8th round and is stopped.

Andrade has been forced to take this fight by the WBO otherwise he would have been stripped and Andrade knew full well for some time his next opponent was Rose and that it would be his first defence. This is a mandatory defence, not a voluntary.
