What makes Sugar Ray Leonard better than Floyd? He wasn't Undefeated

Why are guys like Sugar Rl, Duran, Hagler ranked higher than Floyd? All of them have loss in their record and very bad and simplistic style/technique(compared to todays) . Are we simply overrating the greats?.Specially when guys like Rios would give them a hard time.

Rios would get absolutely slaughtered by those guys. But back to your question I remember hearing somewhere that boxing is the only sport where people tend to overrate talents of the past. I honestly do believe if Ray Leonard fought in todays era he'd still have a few losses. He lacked a lot of discipline and partied too much in his prime. I would put Ray Leonard and Floyd on an equal level in terms of all-time greatness.

Floyd has been more consistent through out his career. He's had more fights than Sugar Ray and has gone up in weight classes like Leonard while not losing(something Leonard was not able to do). However, the guys Leonard beat were more talented and more dangerous than the guys Floyd beat. Nobody on Floyd's resume can even come close to a Tommy Hearns or Marvin Hagler.

Floyd is hurt by protecting his "0". If Castillo had been given the decision then Floyd might have gone after all comers; and if slaughtered them all like his fans think THEN Floyd would be rated much higher (even with a loss).

What makes them better, is their accomplishments.

They accomplished waaaaaaaaay more than Floyd has, and ever will.

And skill their skill. SRL could outpoint ppl, could pot shot them, could box, could fight inside, could hook, could KO ppl.

Floyd doesn't fight on the inside, other than the odd crappy pot shot. Floyd doesn't KO ppl. Floyd doesn't throw vicious hooks.

There are so many things that make SRL better than Floyd. No comparison.

SRL fought Hagler late in his career, this would be like Floyd fighting GGG right now. Their resumes cannot be compared. SRL is far superior, can barely be compared.

Ray Leonard did retire the MOST in boxing, some people think it was to avoid young and hungry fighters.

However Ray Leonard did beat his 3 boogeymen, Duran, Hears and Hagler.

So Ray Leonard has 3 ATGS on his resume, Mayweather only has 1 ATG and that is Juan Marquez.

And also just overall he had a much better resume than Floyd Mayweather and he did it in less fights as well.
