World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has ordered that Omar Figueroa (22-0-1, 17KOs) must defend his WBC lightweight title against mandatory challenger Daniel Estrada (32-2-1, 24KOs).

Figueroa was going to return on March 8th as part of the Saul Alvarez-Alfredo Angulo undercard, where he was going to face Ricardo Alvarez, but Figueroa injured his hand during camp and was forced to withdraw.

      WBC enforcing mandatory? LOL
      Wasn't Linares/Arakawa a title eliminator?

I can think of a few better bouts that some of the sanctioning bodies should make mandatory... This isn't one of them. An eliminator including Qullien, Sturm, and Gennady; including the winner of Cotto/Martinez.

Yeah but he's not very good. Arakawa was busting him up before they stopped the fight and went to the cards, saving Estrada from a ko loss and giving him a decision.

funny that he is now getting the shot after we all saw how easy linares made it look against arakawa. Estrada isn't that great but is a hell of a lot better than Ricardo Alvarez. I think its a move made by GBP bcuz they would rather face estrada over the way more skillfull Linares.
