You Guys Still Dissing my Boy and Sweating Cotto?

Ive been telling you about my boy Malignaggi for a couple of years now and 2 years ago I said he would give Cotto a run and beat Gatti even back then. Now I dont think this fight is happening for one minute and I would like to ask the guy who said that he heard it, where did he hear it from?

However if it did happened I would go with Malignaggi and if he did lose it would definatly be close. In that other thread all of you had Cotto running this guy out the ring in a couple of rounds. No way. I believe in matchups and I honestly believe that Chop would give Malignaggi more problems then Cotto.

In my personel life I am a slugger. I fight like Tyson but for some reason when it comes to watching boxing I have always been drwan to boxers. Thats why my favorite fighters are mostly all boxers. When it comes down to a boxer vs a puncher, I will almost always go with the boxer.

You guys are sleeping on Paulie just because of his power. You guys just dont realize how far boxing skills can carry you. Alot of boxers dont have great pop. Sweet Pea, Ali, and many others. It will be hard for Cotto to get to Paulie and when he does, it wont be that clean. All you guys just assume because a guy has no power, people will walk through him. Its a joke. Look a fights like Byrd vs Tua. It is not that simple, guys. Look at guys like Spadafora.

Paulie would give Cotto hell with his skills and he has no fear. Also he has yet to lose. Dont get me wrong, I know he has faced inferior opponents but my point is that when you havent lost yet, you really dont believe that you can be beat and you automatically are a better fighter because of that.

and let me say this guys. Cotto has faced better comp but all that means is he faced it. He won but he didnt exactly come out looking like Mayweather. Cotto has had very close calls against N'Dou, Chop, and in his last fight against another nobody who hadnt fought anyone but he dropped Cotto and almost KO him and might wouldve if he didnt take the fight on short notice. and Cotto has had shaky moments in other fights.

I pretty much thing Malignaggi can do that. You guys act like Cotto ran through these guys on the higher level. If they did that to him then Paulie can hang with him.

Also guys how much power did Spinks have when he beat Mayorga? Its the same thing you guys said about that fight

This kid can stay away from Cotto and win rounds and I think he would start to do some damage down the stretch. It would be like Byrd vs Tua

Well put... Malignaggi has no power- 5 KO's in 21 fights against lackluster competition. Cotto would maul him. I'd be shocked if Paulie went the distance, and the chances of him beating Miguel are slim, none, and no chance in hell.

        Paulie's power isn't the issue.
I saw him fight, live, down in A.C (in addition to a few T.V. appearnces).....& he was getting tagged more than a supposed super-slickster should.
You mentioned Spadafora....& Malignaggi will pan out just like Spads - A guy who looks slick facing mediocrities, but whose defense will be exposed when he steps up in class.
Cotto is overrated, yes....but he's still on a much higher level than Malignaggi is.

Do not...I mean, do not....compare that greaseball to Pernell Whitaker.
Whitaker DID show power, at times, early on.....flashes of it later in his career.

This is true. Pernell wasn't a power puncher, but Malignaggi shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Whitaker. If Paulie had the skills that Sweet Pea possessed, he wouldn't need power. You're right, power is not a necessity to be a great fighter; however, Malignaggi's defense is not that good, and he doesn't possess blinding speed. He is a decent fighter, but he just isn't any more than that.

Guys Paulie is not Sweet Pea but hes not exactly fighting Roberto Duran either. He doesnt have to be Sweat Pea to beat Cotto or to atleast give him a fight
