Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez: Mike Alvarado Will Be Dangerous

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs) is expecting a very tough and dangerous fight when he steps in the ring with Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23KOs) at a catch-weight of 143-pounds on May 17th at the Forum in Los Angeles, California.

Both fighters are coming back from defeats in October 2013. Marquez lost a twelve round split decision to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Alvarado was stopped by Ruslan Provodnikov. The winner of this fight will receive the opportunity to get a direct shot at the April 12th winner between Manny Pacquiao and Bradley.

Where do these people get their information? In what universe did Marquez lose a split decision to Manny in 2013?

It's a good follow up to a loss type of fight. Looks like Alvarado may be on the path to being a stepping stone/get a win under your belt after a loss type of opponent.

Hopefully he's able to not go that route, but Marquez is a tough guy to pull out a victory over.

Lol. At this point in Marquez career, he is very beatable and he knows it. Every fight they could offer Marquez is going to be difficult (Rios, Ruslan, Pacquiao). He took the easier of the 3. I'm not high on "mile high" but barring the perfect counter punch, I can see him beating Marquez. Hes a big dude for 140 or 143, with a pretty good chin that will only get better with the extra weight.

If no blood testing (aka Hulquez, the Marquez who faced Pacquiao shows up), then Hulquez by knock out.

If Alvarado will be dangerous, then imagine how dangerous Ruslan would have been.

So JMM says Ruslan is a great fighter, but instead fights his left overs. Lol what a hypocrite.
