    Mauricio Herrera: Best 140 pounder?

He beat Ruslan Provodnikov and tonight many would argue that he beat Danny Garcia. Does he have a case for being the best junior welterweight?

He was the one with a gift against Ruslan. Also got easily beaten by Mayfield. Not the best, but he should be champ for now.

Funny to think that Herrera could possibly be the current WBC/WBA/The Ring 140 champ

What a ****ing twist would that be

yeah, i only saw the ruslan fight once, when it aired live, and i thought provo deserved the nod. also, from what i remember he had a poor showing against mayfield. i can't remember all the contenders and names at 140 (since some moved up and what not), but yeah, right now after tonight's performance and fight he deserves to be ring/wba/wbc light welterweight champion and sit atop of the 140 lb rankings.

He did just beat the best, so he at least has a case.

Matthysse's handlers should jump at Herrera... imo

Not that its an easy night or anything but a win puts him right back in the mix

He's a good fighter I said it a long time ago and said he'd give Garcia problems. But he isn't the best. Alvarado had legit win over him too.

I thought he lost to provo and has lost to others but he should be considered number one after last night

No doubt. You beat the best, you become the best. Till you get bested by someone else.

Herrera might not have the belts but we know who's the lineal champ.
