Showtime working too hard to sell Danny G

Couple of thing before the fight..The promo thats all they talked about,about his heritage,his roots,etc,etc..I knew he had a puerto rican background,but it looks to me they trying to sell him to the latin community since nobody really knows who he is.No casual fan knows him..Also,it seemed he was gonna shadow box since there was no mention at all of Herrera,I was thinking,if they would of sold herrera more they could of done the clasical PR vs Mexico story and latinos would of been more intrigued..I am wrong?(I know danny is the champ but gezz)

They know that Latin fans are the ones who bring in the big $ when it comes to the sport of boxing and they're trying to have Danny appeal to the Puerto Rican community. Problem is he's from Philly and not considered a true PR fighter from PR such as Tito or Cotto.

I'll tell u one thing. This Herrera guy is a bad opponent for Danny to have a showcase fight against in PR. Herrera is a spoiler not a fighter.

They do kind of need him, he has more star potential than most guys as he has a solid ethnic fan base he can (they hope) get behind him and he can speak English so he can really sell fights in their prime market.

I'm Puerto Rican and I can honestly say that I dont think so. He's not what the PR fans would consider a true Boriqua fighter!
