  • Comments Thread For: Beltran: Alvarado Won't Be Easy For Juan Manuel Marquez

Zanfer Promotions CEO Fernando Beltran is predicting a tough night for his fighter, Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs), when he steps in the ring with Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23KOs) on the 17th of May at the Forum in Los Angeles. They will fight at a catch-weight of 143-pounds.

Alvarado has been stopped in two of his last three fights. He was stopped by Brandon Rios in seven rounds in October 2012, and then got revenge with a twelve round decision over Rios the following March. Last October, Alvarado took a good amount of punishment before being stopped by Ruslan Provodnikov in the tenth.

Crap fight. This is one of those fights you really don't care for until the day arrives and you're like "AHHH Marquez fights tonight. Gives me some boxing for the night, I'll check it out".

Provodnikov-Marquez would have been a different story but we know how Juanita is when it comes to his feelings.

That's exactly what he gets. Plus FAR more money than he would get fighting Provodnikov. That's what it comes down to. On top of that, he gets to fight at Welter to win the title.

Why is no one talking about testing the catchweight princess?

              This lol.

For those "boxing fans" who forgot to read, the winner of this fight becomes the mandatory to the Pac-Bradley winner so basically Marquez has a chance of getting what he truly wants, a rematch with Bradley or chance at a final payday with Manny. Its a no brainer.. yeah hes really going to drop down to 140 after building all that muscle to be a full fledged Welterweight and fight a cheap money fight with Ruslan and gain absolutely nothing from it. Where would he go from there?

To make this fight even worse, it will be done at a catch weight

if Alvarado comes fight, not the running in the Rios bout, he's out early w/ JMM combos...
