I had a suspision that he wouldn't be totally embraced. Its like when Marquez fought "Baby Bull" Juan Diaz. Marquez made sure to point out that he is 100% Mexican while Diaz is a Mexican-American. During the fight the crowd was solidly behind Marquez.
If Garcia speaks spanish, he started taking it seriously only recently, probably the moment he signed for this fight. He will most likely be viewed as too americanized. As long he avoids opponents that would test PR loyalties, he should do okay. JuanMa, Cotto, and a couple other stars are out of his weight range.
Beating Mexicans like Morales, and nonPRs like Matthysse will keep him in the good graces of the PR fanbase
. Just avoid head to head fights with other native PR stars.

That's very telling. It's always good to have someone "on the ground" give solid views. Maybe if they spoke more about Garcia on the local news, tickets would've been sold out by now.
I have no idea what happened with those fights. Many of the seats closer to the ring are handed out to friends and family of those involved in the card, even celebrities. The others are bought by fight freaks, or those with deep pockets. The cheaper tickets are the ones that tell the tale, and the people buying them aren't necessarily waiting for the day of the fight. Think about it, if they're practically giving away tickets, why wouldn't people go? It's because there's relative lack of interest. Not bad at all. Bunch of ******s in here.
He specifically said all the non-GA seats are sold and those are the expensive ones that generate 90-95% of the gate. The GA seats are probably $5 and will be largely bought by walk up on the day of the fight.
I went to both fight cards and I can guarantee you that neither Broner-Maidana or JCC Jr - Vera sold out the non-GA seating at the Alamodome which is set up for a similar capacity for boxing events.Comment

That is a big, big statement. I don't agree at this point. Felix looks good, no doubt, but special like "superstar special"? Only time can tell. I've seen a lot of prospects look spectacular against soft opposition. The moment they step up, they look ordinary.Comment

Bro, I just watched the vid. Is there a word worse than terrible? lol
God, I'm still laughing! I think Danny would've been better off speaking in English and excusing himself by saying that he grew up in the States. Some people would've accepted that. That display was embarrassing. I'm sure people on the island aren't amused.Comment

I know it is. I personally have really high hopes for Felix. Just have a feeling that he has that "it" factor. I guess time will tell but he has the right mind set and all tho we all like to hate on top rank from time to time there the right promotion to be behind the kid. There the machine that'll help make him into a superstar. We shall seeLast edited by Chiboxing123; 03-14-2014, 01:07 PM.Comment

He's not Puerto Rican. He's American. My German ancestor came here in the early 1600's. Am I German? No, I'm American.
If you are born and raised in America, you are American. I'm tired of this Mexican/Puerto Rican thing. If you think you are Mexican/Puerto Rican, then get the **** out of America.Comment

7,500 tickets vs a no name is not bad at all. People just want to hate and say ****** things. So Garcia-Herrera didn't sell out, big deal, but Garcia-Matthysse II, Garcia-Khan II, Garcia-Peterson, etc. I'm sure all 12k would sell.Comment
