Torres was the number 1 contender for WBO and WBC at that time. Torres is very very strong. I am pretty sure that most if not all of the fighters at 140 would be rocked by the punches that Cotto took cleanly on the chin.
Man it was crazy how many flush punches Cotto took,I thought he was gonna be out for sure.

That's his problem, he needs to stop living in his hero's shadow and use his own style instead of trying to create a Tito Trinidad meets Arturo Gatti. If Cotto would've stayed technical he would've had that fight but he went out of his way to create an image of something he's not and almost lost the fight because of it.

I agree, People discount Cotto's chin without considering the clean shots that he took from a heavy handed puncher. I was not happy with that fight bc Cotto showed that his machismo can get the best of him. He should have boxed more. When he boxed he was outclassing Torres, and when he fought it looked like a completely different fight.
You dare me to wipe the pizza sauce off my fingers?
No, any respectable human being would know it's proper etiquette to wipe the pizza sauce off your body after you have just finished devouring 10 pieces, I don't need to dare you to do so.
If you're feeling dangerous, let's settle this in the thunderdome, *****.

I agree that he should have continued boxing. but i disagree that he "Almost lost the fight". The knock down was not even a clean knock down, he was punched then pushed down.

Did you not see his face? Cotto was damn out of it and confused as hell, he was cracking under pressure and it was only a matter of time before he went down.

I agree that he would have gone down eventually if he kept fighting that kind of fight, but he adjusted (finally) and outclassed the tough Torres.
How many fighters have you seen with Cotto's inside game and all-round boxing skills? And he's got one of the best punches in the Jr Welterweight division. If he sticks to game plan, the only guy I see beating him is Gayweather and he will have a tough fight with Hatton (pick 'em fight). Definitely world-class and an above-average chin.
