    Martinez did Cotto no favors

Some are asking what has Cotto done to deserve a shot at the middle weight crown and crap on Cotto for his demands during the negotiations. And most act like Martinez is doing Cotto a favor, when the truth is that as good as Martinez has been he's made little money and Cotto is giving him an opportunity to get a well deserved good pay day. Big money little risk for Maravilla and Cotto win or loose with a good showing will get a pass because supposedly he does not belong in the ring with Martinez. This fight is more about money than anything else the fourth title in as many weight divisions is just an incentive for Cotto. Cotto wins he gets to choose between Money May and Canelo for his retirement fight he looses it's just maybe Canelo. Martinez wins it's another big pay day with Canelo and if he looses it's retirement time or another big pay day in a retirement fight for him and Cotto in a rematch.

Even though you wrote us a short story you do make some valid points.

If it was about money for Cotto, he would be fighting Canelo, not Sergio. So for at least Cotto, it is about the title. Haters have to At least five him that. He left money on the table for history.

The Canelo fight will still be there for him after he loses though.

didn't read, but the point on paper is correct
Martinez went after Chavez for money, despite his tiffs with the WBC
now he's picking on Cotto for money, he's not even a real MW/JMW
Cotto sold out to Floyd and he shoulda quit after he got his check
Trout beat him and made him look bad
now Martinez is gonna beat his ass and retire him
Cotto has the clout, but he has no chance

But I doubt at that price tag of 10millies

He loses to Sergio, gbp isn't offering him 10 mil

Sorry dude, as a Cotto fan I'm one of his faithful.
Canelo is going no where his people will be waiting in Cotto's locker room with a signed contract in hand win, loose or draw.
Why because like styles make fights rivalries sell fights and there is no rivalry bigger than the Puerto Rico vs Mexico rivalry.

He can just beat another Delvin Rodriguez type opponent and the hype will begin again. Not like Canelo has a lot of PPV options at 154
