I actually think that Shumenov will not be easy prey for Hopkins. Shumenov improved a lot since Campillio. He matured as a fighter, has very heavy hands and great chin, and is not easily discouraged no matter what is going on during the fight.
I expect it to be very competitive bout.

He's fought no-one at all of the slightest note since getting the gift win against Campillo. so it's pretty hard to say if he's improved or not, but given his inactivity I'd say it's unlikely whe're gonna see Beibut Mk II out there.

Shumenov is pretty strong though, and is arguably a (slight) step up up from Murat, but there ain't much else to be said for this fight. It's remarkable that Hopkins is still winning at 49 years of age, but a unifier with Shumenov does little to add to the legend IMO.

He fought undefeated Uzelkov and his last opponent was also undefeated. In his last fight he fought in a very different style, more trickier than what he fought back in the days against Campillio. If they fight again Campillio will loose badly.
Also Shumenov never ducked anyone either, so it is not his fault as a fighter that he has rather weak resume at this point.

I'm confused? Can anyone tell me if Shumenov is the Super, Regular or unleaded WBA champ?

Shumenov is a tough fighter. He's certainly better than Murat and Murat landed plenty of shots on Hopkins. Some of that Im sure was Hopkins trying to be entertaining but not all of it. Good fight
