Hopefully, this fight doesn't get made. It will be Canelo chasing this coward, just a waste of a fight. I'd rather see him fight Kirkland or someone who comes to fight and makes for an entertaining matchup.

The news means that Lara's upcoming May 2 clash with former jr. middleweight champion Ishe Smith will be for the WBA "regular" jr. middleweight title.
For those that may be confused, undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather is the current reigning WBA "super" jr. middleweight champion. Because he also holds the WBC jr. middleweight title, Mayweather was elevated to that status after capturing the WBA "regular" title from Miguel Cotto back in May of 2012. The WBA "regular" title then changed hands from Austin Trout to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez before finding it's way back to Mayweather, who was still the WBA "super" jr. middleweight champion, back in September of 2013.
Meanwhile, as all that took place, Lara was named interim WBA jr. middleweight champion after defeating Alfredo Angulo back in June of 2013. He successfully defending his interim title against Austin Trout in December of 2013, and now the WBA has decided to name Lara their "regular" jr. middleweight champion.
wheres all the criticism for this??????!!!???

Just imagine the b**ch fits these clowns would have if Canelo got a title shot against someone coming off of a loss.

canelo just fought trout, floyd and angulo back to back, he is only 23, we dont even know who is he fighting next, but we are calling ducks?? at 23 he is fighting just the right fights, he is not even prime yet but we are asking him to clean the whole division right now...
i repeat if lara gets an offer he better dont pull a kirkland move and take it now that he has some sort of chance at saul, if not saul is only getting better and lara will be no opposition for canelo..

That fight is destined to not do well from any stand-point you look at it. I hope Lara understands that he needs to dominate Ishe.
