Comments Thread For: Cotto Will Come in Light, Says Martinez Not Too Big

Superstar Miguel Cotto is looking to put his name in the history books as he looks to become the first Puerto Rican fighter to win four world titles in four different weight classes when he faces WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez June 7th at Madison Square Garden.

The fight will be fought just one pound shy of the Middleweight limit at 159 pounds but even then, it’s still a move up in weight for the Cotto who is already considered by many to be a small 154 pound fighter. When BoxingScene spoke to Cotto during his Los Angeles press conference, he was asked how he would go about putting on the additional weight.

Cotto is going cut the ring off and make SM fight. Martinez will not be able to keep Cotto away all night from tagging his body. The hands will fall and good night!! Maravilla camp is taking Cotto too lightly based on what? I seen little dudes knock out giants and half their size... inside the ring and out.

Cotto would be better served to actually box behind his jab. If he comes forward aggressively, he's going to be eating counter shots all night and will get knocked out.

              Martinez's hands are always down...

Seriously though, I like both fighters, but Cotto isn't hard to hit. He'll will undoubtedlbly get ****** up in this fight much like Trout did. Martinez can actually box and is a pretty decent counter-puncher. Assuming that Martinez knee is healthy, he will have no problem jabbing and moving around the ring.

I do believe the bigger good fighter will beat the smaller good fighter.

Cotto is 1-2 in his last 3 fights,Martinez has only loss 2 times in his entire career people that think this fight will be competitive are crazy, look for Cotto to be in vintage knee form by the tenth round and camera shots of his wife and kids crying by around the 7th.

Weight should be the biggest issue in this fight. Both fighters have been through a lot but a move to middleweight just seems to heavy for Miguel.
