Different weight divisions. Floyd's best performances came at lightweight and in the last 8 years or so welterweight.

Poor Pep was a featherweight, who wouldn't have been bulking up overnight after a previous day's weigh in.

Head to head shouldn't even be considered.

Both their skills look brilliant on film. No two ways about it, Pep had insane handspeed, defence, mobility and ringcraft. I'd throw him in with any of todays featherweights absolutely confident that he'd look just as great.

He's overrated by some even considering him to beat Mayweather.

        And Quarry is white too...
you being Black makes you all the more foolsh

Who from the past does Ross Purrity beat??

Fighters from the past could BOB and WEAVE...an art gone from today's heavyweight picture.

Even the smaller of today's heavies stand straight up like they're looking over a fence...they don't know how to get inside or what to do if and when they get inside.

        Boxing has degraded.

There are definitely some of his fights filmed in good quality black and white footage. You might be surprised........
lol I've been on this site for 8 years.

I've seen plenty of footage Willie Pep, and no doubt he was ahead of his time in terms of boxing ability. However, to compare that ability to modern greats who have had the benefit of the sport naturally evolving along with training and equipment advancements; to think he would even be competitive with Floyd Mayweather is ridiculous.

So you haven't actually watched them ?, you just looked at boxrec. All of your posts here speak about records but it doesn't seem like you've actually took the time to study the boxers, you've just skimmed through their records and if they have losses to people you think are less then average (again, without actually watching them) then they are automatically inferior to todays boxers.

We must all bow to this Xpert's superior knowledge of the sweet science.

A fairer comparison would be to suggest that welterweight Sugar Ray Robinson might defeat Floyd.

Same era as Pep, both were considered the geniuses of the day.

I have watched many of the fights, but of course not all of the fights. What difference should that make?
