WASHINGTON, D.C. – IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard Hopkins and WBA Super World Champion Beibut Shumenov held a press conference on Tuesday at The W Hotel in Washington, D.C., to formally announce their world championship unification on Saturday, April 19, live on SHOWTIME® from the DC Armory.

At 49-years-old, “The Alien” Hopkins (54-6-2, 32 KOs), of Philadelphia, is looking to become the oldest fighter in boxing history to unify world titles, while Shumenov (14-1, 9 KOs), of Shymkent, Kazakhstan, is aiming to become the fastest fighter to unify the light heavyweight division with only 15 professional fights under his belt.

Whoever wins this rightfully deserves the top spot in the light heavy division.

No, for beating the guy who beat Hopkins.

For the record I don't like Stevenson, and I would root for (and pick) Hopkins to beat him, but right how Stevenson is the man at 175, and Hopkins beating Shumenov won't change that.

BHop lost to Dawson and we all know the story after that....Superman is the man to beat

BHop is just in the belt collecting business atm....once Superman and Frankenstein clear up their side....the oldman will fight a winner takes all against the dude who prevail on the other side and walk off win or lose....he held ALL the belts at MW at one time and he's looking to retire off accomplishing that again but this time at LHW

Shumenov is going to lose like 119-109. Bernard is unbeatable since 93.
