Comments Thread For: Miguel Vazquez-Kevin Mitchell in Talks For Froch-Groves

Promoter Eddie Hearn has opened talks with IBF champion Miguel Vazquez about facing Kevin Mitchell on the Carl Froch-George Groves undercard.

The Dagenham fighter will be targeting a fourth straight win this Saturday against Georgian Mikheil Avakyan in a bumper Liverpool bill, live on Sky Sports.

A stoppage defeat by Ricky Burns wrecked Mitchell's hopes of taking the WBO belt in 2012, but he has impressed since a reunion with old trainer Tony Sims and Hearn feels he is ready to fight at world level again.

Bitter rivals Froch and Groves will collide again in the capital on May 31, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and the inclusion of a lightweight world title fight would add more excitement to a big night for British boxing at Wembley.

Vazquez better think twice about going over to England, he'll be down 4 rounds on the scorecards before the fight even starts.

More like 4 rounds. Was at the burns v Mitchell fight, Mitchell's got decent skills but his chin is suspect if he's getting ko'd by guys like burns. I fully expected that fight to go full 12 rounds and was a little but disappointed when it was over so quickly

            lol, Hall vs McDonell?

I feel bad for Hall... he's gonna realize after fighting Jaime, the only reason he had a belt was because they stripped Jaime

              It is a strange one.

Coming up I always though Mitchell had a good chin - he took bombs from Johansson amongst others. Then the Katsidis debacle happened.

I think Mitchell had a nightmare against Burns.

I still wouldn't call him chinny. I think maybe he just doesn't have the powers of recovery.

No idea how he managed to get stopped by Burns. Funny old sport!

Mitchell would get a serious schooling from Vazquez.

Vazquez is seriously underrated. The man has skills!

Well at least Mitchell won't get knocked out this time.
