Comments Thread For: World Boxing Council Hopes For Mandatory Instant Replay

The World Boxing Council believes that an instant replay rule must be mandatory in all fights. The implementation of this rule, as well as the timely and apt decision of the Boxing Commission of the State of Mexico, was used during a card that took place recently at the World Trade Center Mexiquense. The rule was instrumental in helping render justice during the fight between Mexican Pablo Cesar Cano and Colombian Fernando Angulo.

This makes sense. It would be a good rule, just in case it's ever needed .

Every sport has hesitated about instant replay. Instant replay should be available to check everything at any time. Fighters and the fans who watch them shouldn't have to suffer through crap like Berto getting a TKO for headbutting Zaveck, or Agbeko getting low blowed and having it called a knockdown.

THIS Sulaiman is quite a bit different, & far more progressive than the Fahter...Instant reply has been in effect in MX 4 over a year (I've seen it on Azteca & Televisa), but it's the US that's dragging it's feet, just as w/the computer scoring they've been doing in MX 4 going on 3 years...nice favorite's lit..any of mine has got 2 have Jhonny Gonzalez...BOL...

I feel you to an extent, but don't think you should instant replay everything in any sport, it slows the game down. If it's a game changing situation where the replay is vital to determine winners, then I'm ok with that. But if people are challenging every single call or miss call I think it will take away a lot from the game.

NOOOOO NO NO NO NO NO. You can NOT do instant replay. It would be totally unfair. How could promoters cheat the sport if these things get shown on an instant replay? Really unfair on the promoters.

how about the prevention of mismatches which lead to certain fighters getting brain damage???? and these mismatches are made in order to propel a certain fighter up their rankings.

I'm all for this...definitely all for this. Of course as long as its between rounds for low blows and headbutts that lead to cuts.. How about we include a mandatory for all champions that if they want to remain champion they can only fight guys legitimately ranked in the top 4 of their championship reigning division. We would completely do away with 90% of the politics in boxing if this were to happen.

Always a good call. I was waiting for this to be implemented since last year.
