no way is this 50/50! Maybe 70/30. Cotto is a small guy who has shown against smaller guys hes running fumes and is living off his name now. Floyd had him hurt but didnt try to finish. He will get no such mercy from sergio. It wont be a whitewash itll be an embarrassing, maybe career ending, destruction. I see no way cotto can win other than major injury to martinez or bobs judge shadiness

I agree and the question will be how will that knee hold up after having a freaking Pit Bull attacking you for 5 Rds..Cotto will bring alot of different looks to Sergio that he hasn't seen or been in the ring with.
If Cotto can deal with the size disparity - then it won't be a whitewash like you presume. NObody Sergio has fought knows how to cut off a ring or pump an effective jab to close the gap.
Not saying Cotto will win - but Sergio really has never fought someone at Cotto's level. Just bigger guys will less skill. Cotto has to watch those straight lefts that'll be coming his way. I expect a brutal body assault in the first few rounds to wear out those legs. Sergio will be much more vulnerable if he's not side-stepping and dancing around
It's about as 50/50 as you get.

Sadly that doesn´t depend of Sergio. When you are 40 years old you don´t recover from injuries like when you are 20.
And I even think that the knee injury is the only reason Cotto has agreed to take this fight. With a 100% knee Cotto has no chance against a bigger, stronger Martinez. Not at 160 lbs.Comment

If Cotto was still with his cuban trainer he would have a good chance, but Roach is gonna have him on the front foot, leading with power shots, and that will make Martinez's job easier.Cotto will bring alot of different looks to Sergio that he hasn't seen or been in the ring with.

Also, Cotto generally doesn't look good against southpaws.Comment

Pedro tried to make Cotto into another Rigo - and his conditioning was worse than usual, and it could have been that he may have thought Trout was just a random tune-up so he didn't take it as serious, idk.
Roach plays up to his strengths much like his uncle did. Fire that jab and attack the body.

That's what Pedro had him do against Floyd. It resulted in one of the best performances of Miguel's career. Miguel just happens to be emo unstablez which causes him to constantly change trainersPedro tried to make Cotto into another Rigo - and his conditioning was worse than usual, and it could have been that he may have thought Trout was just a random tune-up so he didn't take it as serious, idk.

And he developed a great strategy that had Cotto give Floyd a surprisingly competitive fight. I don't know what their plan was against Trout but Trout is very different from Martinez. You don't wanna come forward and swing right hands and left hooks against him, that's what he loves.Pedro tried to make Cotto into another Rigo - and his conditioning was worse than usual, and it could have been that he may have thought Trout was just a random tune-up so he didn't take it as serious, idk.

And don't bring up the Chavez fight, he was dominating for 11 and 1/2 rounds and landing shots that would have stopped regular sized middleweights before he got hurt.Last edited by Light_Speed; 03-10-2014, 01:15 PM.Comment
