WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. said Amir Khan's last performance, where he got knocked down and struggled to win a decision over Julio Diaz last April, was part of the reason he passed on the British star and selected WBA beltholder Marcos Maidana as the opponent of choice for May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The other reason was Maidana's much stronger run, which includes a dominating win over previously undefeated Adrien Broner last December.
