Alfredo Angulo was undefeated for his first fifteen fights before running into a more experienced former Welterweight titlist in Kermit Cintron and losing a decision. He’s tasted defeat twice since then, both times by stoppage, both times against some of the better Jr. Middleweights around. James Kirkland and Erislandy Lara both had their hands raised, but Angulo got his pound of flesh before it was done.

They were the sort of wars that explain Angulo’s place this Saturday (Showtime PPV, 9 PM EST/6 PM PST). He makes it a show before it’s over but, so far, falters against the best he faces.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez stayed undefeated longer. The red-headed ticket seller had a long draw against 42 wins before getting a crack at Floyd Mayweather last year. I got Angulo in this one, Canelo's history of stamina problems (and the opposite is true of Angulo, minus the Kirkland fight where he punched himself out early), as well as the inability to make 154 plus his lack of credible opposition for the most part, as well as not having fought a guy his own size with real power (Rhodes, J.M. Cotto, Hatton, Mosley, Gomez, Lopez, Mayweather, Trout.. none except Cotto had power, and Cotto had Canelo hurt badly)

This is a 50/50 fight based on resumes and styles, I'm going with El Perro

Fighters don't usually fare too well immediately after the Mayweather payday/event. Their motivation can't be the same. Potentially tough night coming up for Alvarez.

This GB is really disgusting in how they manipulate the fights, the ring etc. I just saw a Mares interview and he said the ring for Canelo is bigger than the ring angulo had for Lara. Lara said that too and also the ring was soft to slower him. Now the opposite. Is unacceptable how promoters manipulate fights, pick fighters more suitable in their calculation for some fighters, protect them and make grow their numbers of winning doing those things. I want the best fights without manipulations. I was mad with Angulo due to his talking after his loose with lara, but definitely he has moving for an unprotected path, making his carreer only fighting without cherry pickers. He truly deserves the win over Canelo and I hope he can overcome the manipulation of GB

There's nothing else to see. But even Canelo winning everybody will know he is a protected fighter and he wins by manipulations. What a glory or respect for this type of "champion". Now GB will use a big ring without cushion to help even better Canelo. When Lara fought Angulo the ring was smaller and with cushion to slower Lara. Haha, what a champion!! jaja

Just unfair how promoters do what they do to save their meal tickets.
Well if all things being equal, this could turn out like Soto Karras/Berto, Miadanna/Broner, or Margarito/Cotto I.
Really like the "Dog" to shine, and really expose the "***el in GBP's crown".
Angulo's relentless pressure will crack this kid.
Not only that, but the fact that he had ex-champ's in his camp to school him for this fight will help, not hurt his chances!
