Why does Chris Eubank use such a low ass wide stance?

    Welcome back to 1996

So why does he use such a wide, straight legged, low, stance?

What are the advantages and disadvantages to this stance?

I should imagine it is an awkward stance to fight against.

That Nigel Benn, he even lower though

guess that every fighter stands the way they're comfortable with; their speed, timing, athleticism and general style will probably beget their stance.

Low stance puts more legs into your punches

Not when your legs are straight at the knee it doesnt surely? Hes not crouching like marciano he looks like he is doing the splits.

well certain fighters use certain stances because thats how they either entered the gym or how they were taught, different strokes for different folks...seemed to work fine for him tho

Larry is correct. It does help. I mean every one is different and its an individual sport so do what works for you, but yeh it does help put more in to your punches.

Eubank sort of explained his stance to Louis Theroux during their documentary. He wants the opponent to punch down at him as that suits his counters, he also said to Lennox Lewis that he feels he needs to "coil" and spring into his jab from a lower stance to generate more power. Lewis tried to show and explain that it wasn't necessary though. As others have said its an individual thing and how he felt comfortable in defense and offense.

The thing is it varies from which style vs the other. Not all tall/short fighters fight the same, so we can go on and on with different variations. But for a short and quick response id say:

Advantages: taller opponent is easier to counter and opponent of same/small height will get hit with more crisp shots given you are putting all your weight.

Disadvantages: if a smaller opponent is a better inside fighter than you might as well use your height and try keeping your distance. If your opponent is taller than you then you are just adding to his advantage with his stance.

Kinda obvious you have never boxed, hence the childish response.

Low stance to avoid punches much easier to go to the body, straight leg wide stance puts you off balance, makes you have slower movement,So no I wouldn't teach anyone like this
