Comments Thread For: Canelo, Angulo To Have Second Weigh-In, More Details

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Many were caught off-guard at Friday's weigh-in, when the fight between former WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) and Alfredo "Perro" Angulo (22-3, 18KOs) was announced as having a max weight of 155-pounds.

Based on what BoxingScene.com was told, Canelo and his handlers made everyone aware on Friday morning that a weight issue existed, and he required a higher max. The two sides negotiated a deal for 155-pounds. Angulo reportedly received $100,000 dollars for the increase, as the Nevada State Athletic Commission now has him listed as making $850,000 [up from a previous Thursday figure of $750,000].

This **** happens damn near every week on FNFs. Did no one notice that even in this lil Boxcino deal they're doing, how many guys came in a pound or two above the limit. Its not a big deal.

The rehydration clause I have no sympathy with Angulo didn't they do some similar **** to Lara when he fought Angulo saying he could only go up 10 lbs and Angulo ended up going up to 175

Watch Angulo come in above the agreed weight this time.

Thats because they were given a +1, where they are allowed 1 pound over the "limit".

It is a big deal, because not only are they not making weight, but also come in 20 pounds over fight night. And now Angulo has to be under 168 tomoro as well

Not gonna call it a lack of knowledge from fight fans. Because its very rare nowadays to have a "big fight" that isn't for some belt. But this happens in non-title fights all the time. Its not that serious.
