Are you serious? He has a contract with HBO and if he tries to fight for Showtime, it will be blocked by the courts

HBO has already forced him to drop a belt once because they didn't want his mandatory. Against Zbik I believe. Now they're gonna turn another mandatory down and basically hold him hostage to force him to fight GGG. Which IMO is bull**** because they've accepted several opponents of GGG's that aren't as good as Rubio. Hell, it can be argued that Macklin is the only one that's better than Rubio.
I don't think it's BS, I approve of what HBO is doing, but the boxing business is shady as fk, it ain't gonna work.

Dibella/Lewkovicz will come up with something. Don't be surprised.

It seems strange to me that just one fight ago he made 152 no problem but for the very next fight he can't make 154. Something does not add up!

I feel for Canelo, guy must have killed himself to make the 152 CW in his last fight. He was a zombie.

Its obvious it wasn't as simple as "no problem". Dude spent more time draining himself than training himself.

I don't approve of what HBO is doing at all because they're not consistant. Martinez is at the end of the road and they're trying to use him to springboard a potential star. GGG is viewed as an equal, if not better than Martinez at this point. So if bums like Lee, stevens, and Rosado get approval for GGG. Rubio should get approval for Martinez. Put it like this. If Martinez had two fights remaining on his contract. They wouldn't have a problem with Rubio at all. Probably would be on a co-feature with GGG fighting some can.

Yey he wouldn't do it for an "easier" fight?
