cotto said last year he had 3 fights left before delvin. if he loses bad to Sergio he may not even fight again.

If cotto gets sparked out by martinez and takes a bad beating, I would steer clear from saul. Saul could be around serg's size at the fight. I know cotto loves the $$$, but didnt he also say his health was most important? Sadly, cotto was never a JMW, and he's past his prime. thats recipe for disaster fighting a young prime hard hitting canelo whos much bigger then you... especially coming off a beating from maravila

Absolutely. Styles make fights and these two make for a very intriguing matchup. I would love to see it.

you guys forgot to answer the question and what are you guys talking about ginger is still a rookie who just got by a old man mosley before gettig whooped by frauds.. old man even stood in front of him and allowed ging to connect in order for him to land in return ..Cotto by UD ....if a beating truely degrades you as a fighter than he should have been retired after Margo/Pacman

just got by??? ..... surely you're joking right?

mosley is in the top 2 of my fav fighters ever. but mosley took an awful beating against canelo. Shane was a shell of himself yes, but u would think that with some of his speed and experience he could do something. But no, canelo has some boxing ability too.... he put the worst beating on shane in his entire career. If cotto-alvarez gets made next, assuming alvarez beats angulo which i think he will... Canelo puts a beating on cotto. perhaps worse then sergio, who i think will really soften him up for canelo....

if the fight gets made, i guarantee you canelo beats the **** out of cotto. like i said, cotto is past his prime and blown up at a weight he shouldnt be at. i would never say cotto has no shot because hes miguel cotto. but to me its fairly easy to pick martinez and canelo over cotto at this point... sorry.

only a shell of himself...look at gingers face after that fight...hes a rookie man he wanted the fame so he took the quik rout and will end up just like vargas ... russel jr is playing his cards right you don't become a star at a young age you need to mature as a fighter first

lol russel jr has taken way too long and is nearly a joke at this point. he should have stepped it up a long time ago. Canelo kinda did the same thing... he's 23 but have you seen his record? A pretty looking padded record of something like 50 fights with 1 loss... he already did his gary russel phase only difference is, canelo grew out of it.

If Cotto was to beat Martinez and Avlarez was to beat Angulo, then yeah...but if Cotto is smashed up by Martinez then it would feel kind of hollow pursuing this fight. I'm pretty sure Cotto has said he will be retired fairly soon and if Martinez beats him badly that would almost certainly put Cotto in the 'one (or two) more and done' mindset. Saying that, Cotto does like to stay amongst the big names, so I wouldnt say for sure that he wouldnt fight Canelo even if he loses badly next time out.

If they are both impressive in their next times out then yeah, most definitely.

Cotto took the easier fight for less money. His team thinks Martinez is past his prime and will be upset ready with the long layoff and coming off an injury.
I hope Cotto wins because I always respected the guy but I still think Martinez takes this one.
If Cotto were to pull the upset a Canelo/Cotto matchup in NY during the Puerto Rican parade would be huge. They could do it in MSG, Barclays, or try and pack the new Yankee stadium.
