He didn't know the extent of his injuries.

    Headbutts do happen.

Rahman took the ultimate headbutt from Holyfield but was still trying to continue despite doctor's suggestion.

Things weren't going Golota's way, so he quit. His corner knew he was still in it (only 2 rounds had elapsed).

But it was Golota who walked away.

You get headbutt, you feel power that you probably never felt before, you feel dizzy, aftermath you stutter like a ****** and x-rays show your brain is bleeding. Is a boxer not a human or will he just throw away his life in the ring? He has a family, a wife, kids, to go home to.

man! if only Tyson had been able to bob and weave like that throughout a 12 round fight in the latter stages of his career..he would have done better

I don't think Tyson was doing very well in that fight. Golota was competitive with him in spite of the fact that he was clearly afraid of Tyson's power. Watch the arm punches he throws, especially the left hook. Probably the worst display of punching commitment I've seen by a heavyweight. Even still, with his second rate slapping punches, he seemed to be doing okay with Tyson. Not winning rounds but defending himself for the most part. Tyson looked like he was throwing a lot of punches in the begining of the second round and towards the end he already looked to be weakening slightly from overexertion. If Golota had not been headbutted, if he had gone on, I think he would have brought Tyson into the late rounds and made a very, very good fight of it. I am 100% certain that Golota would have done better and better the longer that fight went on (assuming he hadn't been butted and injured).

It's a shame what happened because Golota had a good chance of upsetting Mike.

yeah it was not Tyson's best effort...I think over the years, Tyson's workrate slowed as he didn't necessarily train and keep in shape like say a Hopkins...so he showed fatigue early...

Looked more like a slip/unbalanced to me, if he was really hurt from the knock down he would have stayed down much longer than he did. He did get up very quickly maybe that made him even more dizzier. Bottom line is he is human, you sit behind the computer trashing boxers while you probably haven't fought in the ring even once.

He quit. He walked away from the ring. His corner wanted him there. His corner wanted him to continue.

If you walked away from your job; you quit. It's that simple.
